LEXYGIUS SANCHEZ CALIP is an interdisciplinary art practitioner who query the weight of gestures in shaping viable and autonomous art practices that confront its common traditions. With the objective to disseminate a complementary discourse, his gestural approach expresses an altered lens in engaging the conventions of art and its practices. The extant of metaphors and allegorical semiotics in his works convey our individual and collective experiences, the social challenges and conditions that we share within the diverse contemporary societies and environments we endure.
Calip is a recipient of the Anne Bremer Memorial Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Arts (2020), and the Excellence in Scholarship Master of Arts Thesis Award (2021) at the San Francisco Art Institute.
